Empowering the Congregation to Reach the Ethiopian Community

2025-26: This project outlines a comprehensive initiative designed to foster a more inclusive and cohesive community through targeted gospel outreach and engagement strategies. The goal is to establish a dedicated outreach program or committee within the congregation to facilitate meaningful engagement, while developing and offering culturally and linguistically relevant services. The initiative also seeks to foster community integration and peaceful coexistence through joint activities and events, and to equip congregational volunteers and leaders with the skills and cultural competency necessary for effective interaction in the Ethiopian community in Grand Rapids, MI.

About Ephram

Pastor Ephram Alemayehu serves as a Pastor at Emmanuel Evangelical Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dedicated to the holistic development of his congregation, Pastor Ephram provides comprehensive spiritual guidance, biblical teaching, and compassionate pastoral care.

His ministry is defined by a commitment to both spiritual growth and community empowerment. Beyond leading worship services and administering sacraments, he oversees congregational training and provides personal counseling to support the well-being of his members.

A passionate advocate for community outreach, Pastor Ephram spearheads initiatives that offer practical support to those in need, including refugee and immigrant employment assistance, elderly care, and refugee settlement services. Through his leadership, he continues to foster a vibrant, supportive and faith-driven community in West Michigan.

Congregations and Communities grants provide support for urban pastors, churches, faith-based community organizations, and theological institutions to share resources, ideas, and practices for life-giving ministry in cities across North America. Typically, we invite those who have not previously had access to resources or grant funding.
